Day 7 - Innsbruck, Austria to Venice, Italy

Today we stopped at a place in Innsbruck before heading to Venice. We were supposed to leave Venice at 1:30 and arrive at 6 pm. But, as we've been advised in the past, you cannot swear by the Italian trains. They went on strike today, which, according to some German friends we met, happens often and is actually just a fancy way of saying they don't feel like working today! This is quite a difference between the regimented, punctual trains in Germany and Austria. We were offered a bus instead. They told us we'd make it in the same amount of time, which I was a little surprised by to say the least. Our 4 1/2 hour train ride became a 7 hour bus ride!. We made it to Venice just before the reception for our hostel closed, but the day was more or less wasted. :(
