Day 14 - Pompeii, Italy

We were intending to go to both Pompeii and Capri island today, but it just didn't work out. All we were able to fit in was Pompeii. Though it was not exactly what we expected, it was definitely worth it! Pompeii has been a highlight for all of us. It is amazing how big the city was. It was destroyed in 79 AD and a lot of the city has been preserved by the volcanic activity. In fact, you can actually see some of the people who were killed in the volcanic eruption. Obviously their bodies would have been completely destroyed, but the archaeologists were able to fill the cavities that housed their bodies with some sort of plaster, making a bust (more or less) of their bodies.
