Day 9 - Florence & Pisa, Italy

This is awesome. Taylor (Ashley's sister) gets to write the blog this time:) The first city we arrived in after Venice was Florence. The best thing about our arrival was when we got to our hostel, Camp Michelangelo, we had a complete view of the city. The landscape was full of all the beautiful buildings, including Brunelleschi's Florence Dome and Giotto's Camponile. Although the exterior was beautiful from that point, once we got to see it inside the city, it was awesome. The little details were amazing up close and the interior was beautiful also. You can see the pictures on dropbox.com, the thing Michael posted on an earlier blog. After seeing the inside of the cathedral, which was called the Duomo Cathedral, we saw tons of different sculptures, including a copy of Michelangelo's David (since the real deal is closed on Mondays... of course). We then walked around the streets of Florence, while satisfying Michael's cappuccino addiction. Ashley found a little cafe that gave us the best prices in coffee and we got some pretty good bruschetta. After the cafe, we took a semi-ghetto train to Pisa, and after missing the bus stop and traveling all the way to the outskirts of Pisa, we finally turned around and got to the plaza that had the actual Leaning Tower of Pisa in it. That was a fun little trip. It was worth it though because we got to see hundreds of people pretending to hold up the tower in the funniest poses (for pictures)... oh and we got to see the tower too. That about sums up the day, but tomorrow we will be taking a ferry to Greece... :)
